What to do if you find sick, injured, orphaned wildlife

How to Help

Encountering an injured, sick, or orphaned bird can be a concerning experience, and knowing how to respond properly can make a significant difference in the bird’s chances of survival. Birds, especially raptors and other wild species, require specialized care and should be handled with caution to ensure both their safety and yours.

Contacting a Wildlife Rehabilitator

If you find an injured, sick, or orphaned bird, reach out to a licensed wildlife rehabilitation center as soon as possible. In Yuma, AZ, you can contact Vida Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center for guidance and assistance.
By following these steps, you can ensure that wild birds receive the proper care they need while keeping both yourself and the bird safe.

Our Work

At Vida Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, we believe that conservation efforts start within our own communities. Through hands-on projects and partnerships, we work to create sustainable habitats for local wildlife while promoting ecological balance and education. Two of our current community conservation projects focus on providing safe nesting sites for owls and Lucy's Warblers, benefiting both wildlife and the environment.

Vida Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center: Inspiring Young Minds Through Wildlife Workshops

At Vida Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, we believe that fostering a love and appreciation for wildlife begins at a young age. That’s why we are excited to offer engaging workshops and hands-on activities for children in grades K-12. These programs provide students with an opportunity to learn about native wildlife, conservation efforts, and the important role they can play in protecting the environment.
Our educational workshops are designed to be both fun and informative, catering to a variety of age groups and learning styles. From small crafts that introduce young children to the wonders of nature to more advanced activities such as dissecting owl pellets, we offer a range of experiences that encourage curiosity and discovery.
